I like it. It cheers me to think that there are people grouping together to fight the widespread misconceptions about gender. I probably can't contribute very often to discussions or threads of this topic because doing so depresses me, it's hard to hear the crappy way that people treat each other based on gender, and the attention to detail needed to converse and comprehend through all the raw emotions almost puts me in a coma. But it is an issue that I care about, and I think this is a good resource. Maybe it can help someone.

A Voice for Men

I didn't realise the western urban male was a minority of the species. O, woe and despair! This seems to be another cause invented just to gain somebody publicity and financial reward. My heart bleeds for the obese middle class male in a permanent job with a pension plan, health insurance, kids in private school, annual holidays abroad, luxury car, many roomed house/apartment who is part of a suppressed minority. Get over it!

It now seems everybody has to belong to some underprivileged minority to gain respect. Men and women in western nations have very little to whinge about and when they do it's seldom about the plight of those who aren't in western nations. 

I guess the next thing we'll have is an Over Privileged Rights Movement.

I'd like to think that as a species we could consider the person with the best qualities to perform in a position would be the best choice. If there isn't anyone good enough then share the role among as many it will take. I'm always bewildered why it's considered best for one person only to head a nation, corporation, city, school etc when the job could be better handled by several but I'm like that.

I'm fully aware women haven't had the same opportunities for as long as men but it's over looked that until mid last century advancement in most professions and trades wasn't based on ability or capability but seniority and/or connections and most men didn't get very far. Now any fuckwit who can hoodwink a panel of fuckederwits can rise like a rocket into the sky where eventually nature comes into play and the earth sucks him back down into the mire with the rest of us! Don't let us light-up the sky with too many skyrockets: male or female.

Well, here you go, here are some westerners whingeing about the plight of those who aren't in western nations. 

My take on the voice for men mag is that most of those complaining there do indeed have legitimate complaints, which are elsewhere just shrugged off or never listened to, but maybe they will be listened to there, and some good advice exchanged. And the people that I know personally that have fallen afoul of the misandry-in-perpetuity that I've observed are by no means overprivileged. And I think there are a lot of bad laws on the books that need undone or tweaked, and hopefully the MRM can effectuate that. 

My last job (human resources) was riddled with misandry and racial discrimination. It was also a state government department, compelled by legislation to ensure fairness and equality in the treatment of its employees. There are and will always be means, fair or foul, whereby those in the big chair will act to enforce their will upon the culture of the workplace, group etc. Being a gay male with a penchant for stirring the hierarchy was hardly ever going to work in my favour, no matter what culture was dominant.

I'm concerned that people are too easily sidetracked by these PC issues and actually think that personal bias or the desperate need to cover one or more people's inadequacies can actually be stopped. This is wishful thinking and is a form of woo. We'd be better off to admit we all have foibles, prejudices, failures and inadequacies then work to devise systems where these can be minimised in any situation, not only gender based.

I'd like people to be aware that it's not generally sensible to make hearsay the basis for any sort of political or social excitement and that a period of examination, understanding and reflection should precede any decision to support a cause. Basically people lie, exaggerate, backstab and invent in order to destabilise the status quo and get what they want. People are weird like that, don't trust them! Make a duck your friend.

This thread tickled my twisted dim comprehension. Shades of Ambrose Bierce, the way I read it, it gives another take on the VfM mag. I'm behind the times finding this, and I know things change. And I haven't read a whole lot at the Man Acad, but it looks a good rag too. Of course, that doesn't at all preclude that I'm incautious recommending such incendiary reading.
