I'm an atheist metalhead who is currently living in a small town who was a member of Atheist Nexus but has left that website. There isn't much else to say about me other than what I've just said earlier, really.

Hi AMhead. I  hope you're at least as 50% nonfictional as some of the others on this site. It's nice to see you here in any case. Nexus turned out to be pretty much just for like-minded people. Understandable in some ways, that people will prefer that, I even do myself, it's just I don't want to get sucked into a borg, that's what keeps me from going the distance anywhere at being too like-minded. Ever heard of that song, 'Imagine no religion', which is a fine sentiment and all, and you can see why so many people like it, but no one seems to notice by the end of the song the lyric changes to 'the world will live as one'. WTF, sounds like a religion to me, but what do I know. I think John Lennon may have been profoundly retarded, Yoko Ono even more so. 

I am a bit jealous of you living in a small town, hope you can bear up under the strain of it though if it's not your thing. 

Welcome Daisy!  I'm glad you're here.  I think most of us are refugees from "Atheist" Nexus.  What's the tagline these days, something about the largest networking site for secularists?  Interesting how the site mission keeps getting expanded.  I suppose if one is to make a living from the gullible, one must cast as wide a net as possible.

 

Wallpfeife, one of the reasons I like hanging out with you is that you help me look at things from a different perspective.  I'd never thought about the song "Imagine".  I had never dug below the myth of John Lennon, but did so recently.   Yup, an awful lot of myth.

Thanks, Ana. It would be interesting to hear more of what you learned of Lennon. I figure most celebrities are significantly different than what gets widely known about them, that's the inevitable process I suppose.
